TE ANAU - we've named this piece after one of the most beautiful areas in New Zealand, Te Anau. This is the gateway to the fjords in South Westland and has some of the most spectacular wilderness in New Zealand. Particularly striking are the mountains which plummet into Lake Te Anau - if you look at the stone in this toki it reflects the transition from land into water and is a marvellous reflection of this wonderful place.
A stunning and visually powerful New Zealand Jade Toki.
This piece has a matte finish which is perfect for this particular piece of jade. It highlights the changes in structure and colour in the stone - this really is a magnificent toki.
We have bound this with a traditional lashing and with a hand-plaited cord in our Khaki colour. The cord is length adjustable.
As an adornment, the Toki, or Adze, is said to bring courage and strength in times of adversity. It is a symbol of courage and strength in times of adversity and is often worn by Maori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
Maori believe that carvings carry the spirit of those who wear them, becoming an important family Taonga (treasure) passed on to future generations of the family as an heirloom.
Also included, one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
We will deliver this to you with DHL Express Courier.
