Collectible Hand Carved Art
Hand carved from deer antler, this piece was conceived with a family in mind. Each of the four components that make up this artwork can be separated into individual pendants, and worn by family or friends.
The antler has been lightly coloured with a proprietary stain made from coffee beans and local plants. The inlaid eyes are made from our beautiful and richly coloured cold water Pāua. This is an enchanting and original piece of art.
FAMILY TREE can be displayed as both wall art or worn as a pendant. The bone toggle is hand made and has a screw closure.
With Hei-Tiki and Manaia resemblances and Koru engravings we feel this piece has depth and powerful meaning.
Hei-Tiki: The tiki is a well recognised symbol in Maori culture, but also has historical roots in Hawaiian and wider Polynesian cultures. It is believed to symbolise fertility, and was often worn by women as a fertilising symbol. Its form is believed to represent a human embryo, often carved with the hands placed on the loins in what is believed to be a direct reference to fertility.
Manaia: The manaia is believed to be the holder of great spiritual energy and is a guardian against evil.
Koru: The koru is worn as a symbol of re-birth, growth and development. It represents the unfurling fronds of the fern, and is typically carved with delicate spirals and decorative swirls - this is a superb example of the decorative beauty of the koru in ethnic carving.
Delivered to you with DHL Express Courier at no extra cost.
Will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which will explain the meaning behind the Manaia and Koru design.
