THE GREETING
In stock
THE GREETING - a Māori / Celtic fusion pendant carved from bone.
This piece was carved for us by Yuri Terenyi, a creative and exceptionally skilled bone carving artist.
Please watch the video to enjoy this lovely, creative design and the exceptional craftsmanship.
THE GREETING is carved from bone and stained with a dye that Yuri makes himself from tea. The manaia eyes are made from local Pāua shell - a beautiful fluorescent blue/green colour.
Māori believe that carvings carry the spirit of those who wear them, becoming an important family Taonga (treasure) passed on to future generations of the family as an heirloom.
The manaia is believed to be the holder of great spiritual energy and is a guardian against evil. Here we have paired it up with a Celtic symbol.... South greets North.
Delivered to you on our Fine Safari Cord.
We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia and Koru design.
