THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP - remind someone you cherish the power your friendship creates.
These are bold and beautiful Manaia - each one a little different, all hand carved for us by Yuri Terenyi. He has used natural bone but with a little special treatment - he has a special dye that he makes from various teas which give these their very unique colour.
THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP are gloriously carved manaia with a traditional head and a body and tail of delicately carved koru.
If you like the photos, take a moment to watch the short video. You will gain an appreciation of the pendant shape and the wonderfully creative design. These are gorgeous pieces both to wear and hold!
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
THE PHOTOS ARE THE ACTUAL PIECES THAT WE HAVE AVAILABLE.
Also included; our Kia Ora cards, which give a little meaning behind the Manaia and Koru designs.
