A stunning and beautifully carved New Zealand 'Marsden' Flower Jade Toki.
This is a glorious piece of jewellery - it is masterfully carved from a wonderful piece of our local jade. The finish is a burnished sheen which accentuates the stone's green colour.
Take a look at the video and you will see the beautiful symmetry of this piece, and the subtle colour variations in the jade.
The pendant cord is a four-string plait and is adjustable.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We have one only, and this piece will be removed from our site when sold. We will also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
