The MOHAKA's little brother....
We have made these little pieces with children in mind. A little gift that they can wear and carry a piece of someone special with them at all times.
As an adornment, the Toki, or Adze, is said to bring courage and strength in times of adversity. It is a symbol of courage and strength in times of adversity and is often worn by Maori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
Maori believe that carvings carry the spirit of those who wear them, becoming an important family Taonga (treasure) passed on to future generations of the family as an heirloom.
We have pieces cut from a light green and a deep green jade. Please make a note in the comments field at checkout which colour you would like.
HERE'S A TIP: wear the pendant yourself fo a week or so before giving it to your child. You can tell them that a part of your spirit is now in the pendant and that you will be with them wherever they are. This is great for children who are facing a situation - starting a new school, or moving to a new neighbourhood for example. It can help give them a little support and confidence when they're facing a new challenge.
We provide these little beauties on a adjustable pearl cord and will also include on of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki/Adze design.
