 NEW ARRIVAL

Beautiful New Zealand Jade Toki in a contemporary design, hand carved for us by Sheree Warren.

This is a wonderful stylised carving of the revered Māori adze. Striking about this piece is the chevron design carved down the front face. It gives the piece a slightly Celtic look.

The cord is a plaited black and is length adjustable.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. In pre-iron age times it was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. In early Aotearoa/New Zealand, the adze was used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The jade used to carve HOPE came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It was been created in the alpine fault and was shaped and given further character in our alpine rivers.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.

We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
