A gorgeous manaia carved from a piece of New Zealand flower jade. Has a colour similar to a beautiful brown trout!
This pendant is a milky green with a very subtle golden hue on the front edge. Ross has incorporated a koru spiral in the tail of this carving mixing a couple of shapes well-known in the South Pacific, and giving it an interesting symbology:
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
We will deliver this on a black cord.
