WAIRUA, is a marvellous spiritual pendant hand carved in bone.

The pekapeka shape represents the native New Zealand bat - a tiny mammal, about the size of a hummingbird, which flies at night.

This is a traditional representation of the pekapeka - two heads facing away from each other and sharing one body. This piece culminates in a whaletail - a representation of the relationship between the land and the sea.

The pekapeka is worn for protection, particularly when travelling - so if you have a loved one heading off on a journey, this would be the perfect gift.
