WHAKATAU - Determination...
PERFECT IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL - a strong shape softened, just a touch, with a koru heart!
An original, large Toki carved from New Zealand Flower Jade (Pounamu). This is our FEARLESS pendant upsized!
From time to time we've been asked if we could carve our WARRIOR and FEARLESS toki a little larger - well here's what we've come up with - WHAKATAU. A large, strong 💪 toki carved from colourful jade from the Marsden Valley on our South Island's West Coast. This is a heritage piece - a toki to pass on to future generations.
WHAKATAU is carved from a lovely piece of jade with a polished finish. To contrast and complement the subtle shades of green and the paler flecks in the stone, we've bound it with a beautiful hand plaited Wapiti Brown/Khaki Cord and a Khaki Binding. The cord is length adjustable.
The significance of the toki design:
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful ....and this is a good one!
Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges, and the koru is a symbol of rebirth, growth and new beginnings.
We include our 'Kia Ora' cards explaining the meaning behind both the Toki and Koru designs.
