This piece is named WHIRIKOKA - STRENGTH
WHIRIKOKA - is a medium sized and beautifully carved Adze/Toki. A gorgeous, clean design with a pounamu insert in the front face and our NZ Pacific logo on the back. The Pounamu eye appears like an eye into the soul - our logo signifies the coming together of the mountains and the ocean, a symbol of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Carved by one of our favourite bone carvers, Andrew Doughty.
This is a beautiful piece, carved with care and thought. Andrew describes the ethos behind his design in some detail and we supply this description with the carving. Briefly it's meaning is as follows...
WHIRIKOKA - contains a kowhaiwhai pattern along both sides. This symbolises balance. With a balanced mind we can navigate our lives with calm and confidence.
On the front there is a special inlay of pounamu in the middle of this taonga (treasure). This symbolises deepest most pure aspect our innermost being and union with this aspect of our joyful nature.
On the back there is an engraving of the logo of NZPacific.com This symbolises the meeting of the Mountains and the sea. In New Zealand we are fortunate to be close to these beautiful and mighty powers of nature. There are few places in the world where they both meet so closely together. In essence, it is a celebration of nature and love.
This Taonga has been registered in Andrew's database and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
A fantastic toki, meaningful, beautifully carved and deserving of a home for generations.
We provide this piece with a note from the artist to the holder of this carving.
Also included, on of our Kia Ora cards which explain a little behind the Toki design. This stunning Toki will come to you in one of our wooden boxes.
