A bold and beautifully carved koru stained with Yuri's homemade tea dye.

This little koru is a beauty - linking the sky, land and sea UNITED FRONT embraces the South Pacific elements wonderfully. These are important symbols down here in the South Pacific.

The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
