A unique and collectable netsuke by master carver Fumio Noguchi.
GHOST SNAKE emerges from pale deer antler as a creature of mystery. Curled tight in a figure eight, head resting upon its own body, it watches - tongue flickering, eyes of red shell wide and unblinking. Every scale on the underside is rendered with Fumio's customary precision, the sinuous form flowing seamlessly into itself.
In Japanese tradition, snakes are guardians and shape-shifters; perhaps this GHOST SNAKE inhabits the threshold between worlds.
We will deliver this piece with an adjustable, pohutukawa red cord - a flash of native colour transforming sculpture into wearable art, with the red echoing those watchful eyes. This cord is easily removable.
Take a close look at the photos, and the video to appreciate the detail of this piece.
