We have named this carving KORERO because, without a doubt, this face has a story to tell, a history to speak of.

This beautiful taonga is a large-sized pendant, carved from a very dark piece of pounamu. There stone draws the eye in revealing the detailed carving across the forehead and around the mouth. Viewed from varying angles, the stone reflects the light showing the beautiful shaping of the eyes and mouth. The eyes of inset pāua provide a formidable stare.

KORERO is a stylised ancestral face, with powerful, linear features, executed with wonderful precision.

As a cornerstone of Māori carving, the wheku embodies an ancestral presence. This taonga serves as a permanent symbol of inherited wisdom, strength, and a direct connection to one's tīpuna.

The Wheku represents an ancestral face, symbolising wisdom, strength and connection to tīpuna (ancestors). A powerful taonga for protection and guidance.

This is a beautiful piece, carved with a great deal of care and thought.

The materials used are New Zealand Pounamu (Jade) and Pāua Shell.

KORERO is provided with a black adjustable cord and lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.
