THE CROWN JEWEL - a striking pendant handcrafted by Swiss jeweller Michel Girardin. The design pairs a scooped piece of polished New Zealand pāua shell with a luminous Japanese white mabe pearl. The pearl is nestled into a worked silver rim on the shell's face. A vertical silver rod rises from above the pearl's edge to serve as the fitting for the chain - clean, architectural, and distinctly art deco in feel.

The pāua shell shimmers with deep ocean blues and greens, providing a rich, textured backdrop for the pearl's soft, white glow. The contrast is elegant. The silver detailing around the pearl and along the rod adds a refined, geometric touch that gives the piece a subtle vintage character without feeling dated.

Michel comes from a Swiss family of jewellers and trained at La Chaux-de-Fonds Art School. That background is evident in the precision of the work and the immaculate finishing. Every surface is handled with care, because he believes a piece should be beautiful from every angle.
