We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.
The Koru is a traditional Maori tribal symbol of creation, new beginnings, love, peace and harmony. The detailed carved design is used to talk about the past - the story of the tribe, or an individual, carved in wood or bone to preserve information for future generations.
This carving is presented in a traditional woven flax pouch. The cords are length adjustable.
We will also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards which explains the meaning behind the Koru design.
Please use the dropdown menu to select the cord colour that you would like.
Note: The material we carve these pendants from is not treated in anyway. Each piece varies in colour and grain appearance.
