LEAD AND INSPIRE - is a wonderful manaia design, culminating in a hook/koru. The stone is a semi-translucent green with swirls of paler inclusions - a gift from the environment that formed the jade! Hand carved by Ric Moor.

We have named this piece LEAD AND INSPIRE to reflect and acknowledge the remarkable strength of the human spirit. When you LEAD AND INSPIRE no challenge is too big and no matter of the heart is too small to salute.

The Manaia's tail finishes in a hook design with another koru in the tail - giving this piece a lovely duality.

E iti noa ana nā te aroha - a small thing given with love

The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect. 

The Koru: The unfurling frond shape is symbolic of new life, new beginnings and the hope that is associated with a step into something new and unknown. It is a reflection of the spirit of rejuvenation and the personal growth that comes with undertaking new challenges.

The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.

LEAD AND INSPIRE is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch and provided with a hand-plaited cord which is length adjustable.
