RŌNAKI - Gliding Easily, a Kea pendant carved in bone
Carved from polished bone, this pendant shows the kea in full, purposeful flight. Wings fully extended, feathers fanned like fingers to capture the mountain wind. This kea is on the move. Heading somewhere with obvious intent... perhaps a car park at Arthur’s Pass or a remote DOC hut where an unguarded tent awaits.
The bone’s natural warmth gives the bird a living presence. Anyone who has looked up to see a kea glide silently between craggy peaks - neither hunting nor fleeing, just commuting toward its next joyful act of chaos - will recognise this bird instantly. It is the alpine rascal en route, mischief still ahead.
We will provide the buyer with a detailed description of this carving, written by the artist.
