This beautiful taonga is a medium/large sized rendering of the traditional wheku form, hewn from pale green pounamu with striking pāua shell eyes. The stylised ancestral face, with its powerful, linear features, is executed with formidable precision.

The Wheku represents an ancestral face, symbolising wisdom, strength and connection to tīpuna (ancestors). A powerful taonga for protection and guidance.

This is a beautiful piece, carved with a great deal of care and thought.

The materials used are New Zealand Pounamu (Jade) and Pāua Shell.

TĪPUNA is provided with an adjustable cord and lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.
