Travellers and adventurers across the centuries have lead the way in discovering new lands, opportunities and ideas. They were the original entrepreneurs.

To guide and protect these voyages they asked their Gods to watch over their journeys and bless them with good fortune.

The Hei-Matau, or fishhook is one of the most powerful symbols used in Māori culture and is believed to provide good luck and safety when travelling over water.

The Adze, or Toki, necklace is a Māori tribal symbol of courage and is often worn to provide strength, courage and protection. 

The Roimata, or teardrop form, is often worn as a sign of independence, power, strength and pride.

In jade or bone these carved forms have held mythical power to guide and protect those undertaking challenging journeys.
