“Remain constant like the waves of the sea” - Rueben Tipene

PUMAU - Constant

PUMAU is a 'one-off' koru pendant, carved for us by Rueben Tipene. An exceptional carving, made from a stunning piece of stone - New Zealand Tangiwai.

PUMAU is a large piece that stands out with a simple, flowing design and clean bold lines. This tangiwai is a very dark stone with a couple of palish grey striations - caused by mineral inclusions captured as the stone formed and developed.

We have offset the raw beauty of the stone and the subtle, strong design with an eye-grabbing cord plaited in two of our favourite reds - Juicy and Passion! The cord is length adjustable.

This is an EXCEPTIONAL carving in every sense - beautifully designed and flawlessly crafted, and the finish is gorgeous - a wonderful soft matte.

Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.

This piece is provided on a hand plaited juicy red and passion red, adjustable cord.

PUMAU is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.

We include our 'Kia Ora' card explaining the meaning behind the KORU design.
