TUROU HAWAIKI - Blessings upon you

Hand carved for us by Andrew Doughty. This is a wonderful piece - a beautifully handcrafted manaia pendant with exceptional detail carved into both sides of the pendant.

TUROU HAWAIKI is carved from natural, stained bone with eyes inlaid in Pāua Shell.

Andrew details the carving below:

This Manaia is named Turou Hawaiki. It means blessings upon you.

The Manaia holds the aspect of a warrior. Within the tail is a weapon which is seen as supporting itself. This is the blade of wisdom that cuts through our internal negativities. Thereby causing us to overcome our personal obstacles.

The river of kowhaiwhai patterns flow up and down the neck of the Manaia. This represents the seeking of wisdom. Through wisdom we can ascertain what are correct actions that are conducive to our eternal wellbeing. The koru symbols also represent growth, new beginnings and awakening.

Andrew has paired this lovely manaia with a Beige adjustable cord.

The artist has decorated these pieces with particular carved detail - these have meaning for the design beyond that associated with this style of Manaia.

Included in your package is a note of the carving from the artist.

Shipping is included in the price.

This pendant will be on a hand plaited adjustable cord.

We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia and Koru design.
