WHARE TANGATA - the Womb

Carved from New Zealand Argillite

WHARE TANGATA is a large shield shaped piece by Kerry Thompson. This is an exceptional carving in every sense - beautifully designed and flawlessly crafted... and the finish is sublime.

The colour of the stone is a shimmering deep grey. The finish is a great example of Kerry's unique ability to vary his polish so that wonderful contrasts emerge. This transforms a piece giving it depth and contrast - depending on how the light strikes the piece, two quite different designs emerge.

WHARE TANGATA is a 'one-off' carving which we are delighted to have available for sale.

WHARE TANGATA is a carved artwork that we think will become a very meaningful heirloom.

If you would like to own a superb carving from an exceptional artist and carver - take a close look at this piece, it is truly beautiful.

Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.

This piece is provided on a plaited tan/black, fixed length cord

We include our 'Kia Ora' card explaining the meaning behind the KORU design.

Shipping to you with Express Courier is included in the price.
