JOSEY COYLE

Welcome Josey!

JOSEY COYLE

We are delighted to introduce another outstanding Jade Artist to you - JOSEY COYLE.

Josey made her way to jade carving via a formal art training in our largest city, Auckland, at the Elam School of Fine Arts. She completed a Bachelor in Fine Arts and followed this up with a qualification in Jade and Hard Stone Carving.

Josey found her passion for working in jade - an uncompromising and challenging medium - and this took her to the remote West Coast, a rugged and beautiful part of the country and the source of our wonderful Jade.

We love Josey's fine touch and her eye for beauty. Her pieces combine gorgeous stone and a wonderful artistry. She crafts gloriously sensitive pieces - they are delicate, beautifully carved and uncommon.

This is ART to WEAR at its finest!

Josey's motivation is best described in her own words....

“The true object of study is nature, he who takes his style from this master will attain true originality”

Horace LeCoq de Boisbaudran

My main motivation has been the search for a lifestyle which enables my creativity to flow freely and to connect myself with the surrounding environment. This exploration has drawn me to the South Island’s West Coast where I discovered a love and passion for jade.

The nourishment of my feminine creativity and the sensuousness of natural forms inspires me. That, along with an affinity for beautiful materials has made jade the perfect medium for me.

I delight in the stone, its material qualities and the act of being deeply involved in each and every one of my pieces.
I take my work very seriously and am always striving to reach the next level of craftsmanship, being especially conscious of the importance of producing pieces which have integrity.
