KYOHEI NOGUCHI

INTRODUCING A FINE JADE ARTIST

We are delighted to introduce a new jade artist to you, and some of his beautiful and creative work to our collection of Art to Wear.

Kyohei is a young, and very talented, jade carver and artist with carving in his blood! He is the son of Sayuri and Fumio Noguchi who live in The Nelson Region at the top of our South Island. Fumio is a highly accomplished and creative bone carver and one of three Netsuki carvers in New Zealand.

If you appreciate beautifully carved traditional and contemporary jade carving, keep an eye out for Kyohei's work - it is superbly executed and very creative.

HERE'S HOW KYOHEI DESCRIBES HIS ROAD TO JADE CARVING...

Born in Japan, Kyohei moved to NZ at 3-months old. His father, Fumio Noguchi, became a bone carver and as a young child Kyohei would study his hand-work.

Kyohei has always been interested in the process of making things since his early years, he loved the art of creating things with his hands and would often make intricate pieces of origami wherever there was paper available.

Working under the tutorship of Ric Moor from his Greymouth studio since 2017, Kyohei is refining and developing his skills as a jade carver. He enjoys carving and the processes involved in creating art, and he hopes to start introducing his own heritage into his intricate designs.

We will be adding work to this collection from time to time - so bookmark this page and keep an eye on new work from Kyohei. Alternatively you can as to be put on our newsletter list and we will keep you informed when we receive new work from him.
