Description

AVENGER - A winged fish hook necklace (hei-matau) handcarved in a unique style, with some beautiful detailing to add a little flair!

The necklace cord is hand plaited and length adjustable. It has a couple of slip knots that will allow you to position the piece where it suits you best.

The hook is made from cow bone. It is a tough and resilient material and doesn't require a lot of attention to take care of - just the occasional rinse in fresh water, and a wipe with a dry cloth or kitchen paper.

In New Zealand Maori tradition the fish hook represents prosperity, abundance, strength and determination and is also worn to show a respect for the ocean. Wear this amulet for safety when travelling, particularly over water.

AVENGER is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.
