INUNNGUAQ is a type of indigenous marker called a Inukshuk and in the Arctic region they're used to mark caches or point the way. The INUNNGUAQ is a human-shaped stone structure built by Inuit and other Arctic peoples. These were generally used to mark a place of significance.
The Mammoth Tusk used for this piece is CERTIFIED 34,690 YEARS OLD (+/- 815 years). All our Woolly Mammoth pieces are provided with our certificate of authenticity.
We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.
Watch the short video to get a sense of their shape and the lovely material they're made from.
