SUNKISSED - Hand Carved New Zealand Pounamu Hook with Koru Pendant
The Hei-Matau design represents abundance while the Koru represents love... SUNKISSED is born!
Ric has used a stunning piece of New Zealand Jade. The real beauty of this stone is its subtle mix of colours - deep green with paler inclusions and glances of clarity. It is classed as pounamu because of the high regard that Māori have for this stone. They recognise its rarity and beauty and have long used it to make jewellery.
This pendant is beautifully carved and a striking work of art. We provide this with a length adjustable Kalahari Tan cord and Burnt Orange binding.
SUNKISSED design was carefully thought through with the following history sitting behind this pendant.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
The Hook: the wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.
The shape is streamlined, gloriously curved and quite unique. Take a look at the video and you will appreciate the artistry of this beautiful piece.
SUNKISSED is lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.
DELIVERY WITH EXPRESS IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.
Also included, our 'Kia ora' cards, which explain the meaning behind the hook and koru designs.
