BLUE RIVER - a Collectable Hand Carved Tiki
A beautiful RARE New Zealand Blue Nephrite Pounamu Tiki pendant hand carved by Tim Steel.
This is a large and significant piece. It has been handcarved from New Zealand Blue Nephrite Pounamu which is only found in Nelson, a small area in the North of the South Island - this stone is very rare.
Tim's attention to detail and his precise and creative carving have resulted in a very unique and special piece. We see a lot of tiki and this is one of the finest that we've seen.
We've hand plaited a black/silver/maui navy blue cord to accentuate the silvery blue tones in this very unique jade. BLUE RIVER is wearable, but equally would make a stunning display piece.

The tiki is a well recognised symbol in Maori culture, but also has historical roots in Hawaiian and wider Polynesian cultures. It is believed to symbolise fertility, and was often worn by women as a fertilising symbol. Its form is believed to represent a human embryo, often carved with the hands placed on the loins in what is believed to be a direct reference to fertility.
These pendants were traditionally highly valued and wearers were seen to possess clarity of thought, loyalty, great inner knowledge and strength of character.
We will deliver this beautiful Tiki on a hand plaited black/silver/maui navy blue fixed length cord and will ship to you with DHL Express Courier.
