This beautifully bound Toki is carved from Australian black jade - a spectacular and deep black.
As an adornment, the Toki, or Adze, is said to bring courage and strength in times of adversity. It is a symbol of courage and strength in times of adversity and is often worn by Maori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
Maori believe that carvings carry the spirit of those who wear them, becoming an important family Taonga (treasure) passed on to future generations of the family as an heirloom.
Included with one of our 'Kia Ora' card explaining the meaning behind the Toki design.
We have these with a black or a red binding (both are hand plaited, adjustable cords) - please use the drop down box to select the colour you would like.
