FLEURS D'AMOUR - Flowers of Love
A beautiful medium sized Toki, hand carved in gorgeous New Zealand Flower Jade.
This is a fine little pendant that really stands out because of the stone - colourful mineral inclusions give FLEURS D'AMOUR its unique look. There is only one of these!
THE STONE: the flower jade used for this piece is becoming increasingly difficult to find, so each piece is unique and very special. The jade used for this piece really has a story to tell. Look at the colour variation in this piece of stone. It reveals the mineral environment the jade was formed in under enormous pressure and heat.
We have used a plain Wapiti Brown Cord to complement the colours in the stone.
THE TOKI: or adze, is a symbol of strength. It was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
This jade comes from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It has been created in the alpine fault under extreme pressure and has been worked over in a fast flowing, steep river.
These pendants are traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
