ILLUMINATE - the hues of green and orange in this piece encapture the beautiful colours produced by nature. We've bound this Toki with a bright and beautiful lilac purple with lilac/brown/khaki cord, we felt if nature can produce such glorious colours in the stone, we can do our best with the cord too!
An incredible medium sized New Zealand Flower Jade Toki pendant, handmade by Ross Crump for us. This is a wonderful piece carved from the coolest piece of Marsden Flower Jade. This is definitely a unisex piece - anyone can wear this and it will be perfect!
The photos and the video reveal the colours a whole lot better than our written description, so take a moment to view these.
WHY WOULD YOU WEAR A TOKI?
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve this stunning Toki came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island, from the Marsden valley. It was created in the alpine fault and shaped and given further character in our alpine rivers.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
