Kerry Thompson is a Master carver working mainly with bone and New Zealand Greenstone, or Pounamu. He is a New Zealand Māori of Ngāti Paoa descent.
Kerry is renowned for his work with bone, carving intricate and detailed pieces that display his craftsmanship and creativity. He has developed his skills over many years, working alongside other skilled carvers, and has passed the art on to other young carvers through various tutoring engagements.
The carving of Tāne (the creator of man) above, displays his carving prowess and the unique staining technique he has developed for bone.
We are delighted to offer a selection of Kerry's work carved in his wonderfully distinctive style.
