This cross is named Manawa Ora which means Breath of Life.

As a symbol of atonement, the message of the cross is that Jesus Christ, God's own Son, willingly suffered and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. As it says in Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." As a result, Jesus Christ attained victory over death.

The patten on the cross contains a number of koru depicted as a growing vine. For we are grafted into the vine through the gift of grace freely given. In general, the koru represents new life and new beginnings.

The markings in-between the korus symbolise that we are carried, supported and nurtured by God's love.

On the back is an inlay of pounamu. This represents the strength of abounding and steadfast love.
