SWEET PEA
Out of stock
SWEET PEA - this is a wonderful little toki carved in rare woolly mammoth tusk. It is hand made with a little Koru heart. We've bound these Toki with a beautiful binding, selecting cord colours that complement the material - each piece is unique.
We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.
The cord is adjustable so you can position it where it suits you best - it looks fabulous worn high on the neck.
As an adornment, the Toki, or Adze, is said to bring courage and strength in times of adversity. It is a symbol of courage and strength in times of adversity and is often worn by Maori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
Maori believe that carvings carry the spirit of those who wear them, becoming an important family Taonga (treasure) passed on to future generations of the family as an heirloom.
We have unique binding colours: use the drop-down box to select your preference.
This pendant is delivered to you with Express Courier and will have a 'Kia Ora' card which will provide you with a little bit of information on both the Toki/Adze and Koru design and its meaning. All of these are on adjustable cords so you can position them wherever you choose.
