WAKA - This is a beautifully designed and carved Matau pendant, carved from spectacular jade.
The matau is believed to provide the traveller protection. We have named this beautiful piece 'WAKA' in honour of the mighty ocean-going canoes that Māori made their long sea journeys in.
The jade for these was collected on our West Coast and is a real reflection of the land it has come from.
We have carved these with plenty of body, they are solid, beautifully rounded and have a wonderful feel in the hand - WAKA is a very beautiful piece with a lot of soul. The finish is a glowing matte which highlights the unique characteristics of each piece.
The Hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.
Please note - the photo shown in the hand is for size reference only.
