ALICORN - Hand Carved in Woolly Mammoth Tusk, this is a beautiful Unicorn Horn Pendant.
A wonderful example of carved art. Detailed and expressive, this is a rare and beautiful piece of hand carved jewellery.
ALICORN - myth meets history!
This is a wonderfully whimsical piece, carved from Mammoth tusk. The form is solid and slightly curved, shaped to echo the mythical unicorn horn. The pale honey colour is natural, and the carving is sharp, clean, and beautifully detailed.
This piece can be worn as a pendant, or perhaps a quirky hairpin!
The material used for this carving is woolly mammoth tusk, an ancient material recovered from the frozen tundra.
The Mammoth Tusk used for this piece is CERTIFIED 34,690 YEARS OLD (+/- 815 years). All mammoth tusk pieces come with our certificate of authenticity.
We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.
