APPREHENDED - this is a lovely, light BURMITE pendant. This piece is a pale, polished amber with exceptional clarity. It has a number of insects captured in the resin which we have photographed and magnified. These little guys were in the wrong place (although right place for us) around 100 million years ago and were smothered in viscous amber. This is now fossilised and has created this little record for the ages!
Burmite has been used by the Chinese to make jewellery since around 200BCE. They appreciated its inherent beauty and also believed that it is a symbol of courage and bravery and that it contains the soul of a tiger.
Look at the photos and watch the brief video - it's worth the few moments and will give you a complete picture of this pendant.
