DEEP STRENGTH - a lovely, smaller sized, whale bone Toki pendant

This is a very cool, smaller-sized toki, hand carved from whale bone. this particular piece came from a rib bone and shows the characteristic granular look that we love in this material. It's structured, a little gnarly and a great little tribute to these mighty ocean mammals.

The bone is polished to a soft shine on the front - we have teamed this up with our Paradise Blue cord and Cobalt Blue binding. Striking colours that accentuate the beauty of this wonderful toki.

Carved from whalebone, DEEP STRENGTH is a tough toki made to be worn. It will get better with wear and age, so don't be afraid to make it a constant companion.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
