FORESIGHT - plan for, and capitalise on the future....
This is a traditional Manaia shape - these are believed by some to be holders of spiritual energy, and guardians against evil.
The Manaia has many forms as it is intertwined with other shapes and patterns to depict its different powers and its interaction with the spirit and mortal worlds.
The manaia is a beautiful design, often found in wood carving in buildings to fill space between designs. They can be very intricate or quite simple like this piece.
We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.
This is a beautiful Woolly Mammoth Tusk pendant with Pāua eye inlays and will be supplied with an adjustable olive braided cord and will include our 'Kia Ora' card explaining the meaning behind the Manaia design.
