This special Taonga has been named NGAKAU PONO which means true heart. The boar tusk is capped with a light turquoise and a layer of copper. It is a simple design incorporating a contemporary kowhaiwhai pattern near the tip which contains three distinct elements.

The tusk symbolises protection and great strength. At another level, a tusk is representative of leadership and mana.

The koru patterns near the tip symbolise new life, fresh beginnings, and unfolding potentials. At another level, they represent three main aspects of our being. The physical, the mental/emotional and the spiritual. Therefore, it is communicating a sense of wholeness.

People value turquoise highly for its combination of ancient heritage and unforgettable colour. This stone is a lighter variety. The layer of copper is symbolic of conductivity. As it forms a connection between the tusk and the turquoise, it represents the connection between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
