This little adze shaped pendant has been carved from a strikingly coloured piece of New Zealand Flower Jade. We have bound it with a hand-plaited Khaki green cord and matched this with our Olive binding. The cord is length adjustable.
This shape is derived from a chisel tool used by the Māori people of Aotearoa (New Zealand) to carve their great canoes and the detailing on their meeting houses. It was an essential tool in their daily lives, and a good quality jade adze was a prized possession.
This is a smaller piece, and quite beautiful - the variations in colour are lovely. We have one only and this piece will be removed from our site when sold.
Also included, one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
